Messiah Lutheran Preschool is a non-profit half-day preschool that offers a warm, loving, child-sized, child-centered atmosphere based on the needs and interests of two, three, four and five year-old children.
The most important way preschoolers learn the Biblical message is by being with adults who radiate God’s love and care.
Our preschool was established in 1987 and has welcomed hundreds of children like yours through our doors. We provide an early childhood experience with Christian love that strives to meet the emotional, social, mental and physical needs of our students, as well as nurture their spiritual needs. We emphasize play and concrete experiences in the developmental areas of language, cognition, small and large motor development, social and emotional development and self-help skills. Our goal is to give your child a positive first experience of school.

9:00 am – 12:00 pm (with optional “Lunch Bunch” from 12:00pm – 1:00pm at additional rate)

Pre-School Goals
Each child is regarded as a unique individual and is encouraged to experiment and learn at his/her own pace. Since children learn best by doing, our classrooms are arranged in interest centers so your child can explore, move about freely and participate in a wide variety of activities. We develop a sense of regularity and security for your child by daily carrying out basic routines such as organized free play, cleanup time, toileting, snack time, outdoor play and group time. You are encouraged, as parents, to participate in our program and share your skills.
Focused Goals:
- Help the child learn to get along with others.
- Help the child learn to use various materials.
- Provide a setting in which the child can express him/herself competently.
- Teach the child to listen intelligently and follow directions.
- Introduce the child to school life
- Foster the development of new skills and interests
Meet our Teachers
Our teachers and staff bring a wealth of experience, a love for children, and a heart for Christian education to every classroom. Through nurturing relationships, engaging learning experiences, and the love of Jesus, they help each child grow with confidence, curiosity, and faith. We are grateful for the caring individuals who make Messiah Lutheran Preschool such a special place to learn and belong.
Alyssa Breuer serves as the Director of Messiah Lutheran School and is passionate about creating a nurturing, Christ-centered environment where children feel loved, supported, and encouraged to grow in their faith and learning. Originally from Long Island, New York, Alyssa moved to North Carolina with her family in 2013. She and her husband are blessed with four children, and her own experience as a mother has deepened her love for working with young children and partnering with families.
Alyssa became part of the Messiah Preschool community in 2015 as the teacher in Transitional Kindergarten before becoming Director in 2022. Through each of these roles, she has developed a strong passion for early childhood education and for helping children build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and faith.
As Director, Alyssa enjoys working alongside the church and school staff, families, and Messiah community to provide a positive and Christ-centered experience for every child. She is also passionate about growing the school and developing programs that meet the needs of children and families while sharing the love of Jesus. Alyssa is grateful for the opportunity to serve the children and families of Messiah and considers it a blessing to be part of a ministry that helps young children know they are loved by God. The bible verse she likes to share is Proverbs 22:6 — “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
Miss Ali has been teaching at Messiah for over 10 years. She teaches the 4s class. She brings experience from the field of childcare and is a mom of two children. Miss Ali loves that the children are excited about coming to school each day. She enjoys watching how much they grow socially, emotionally, & academically from the beginning of school to the end of the year. She likes to use the Golden Rule to encourage sharing and gentle hands.
Miss Amy has been teaching at Messiah for over 5 years. She is the Lead Teacher of the 2’s class. She has taught elementary school & worked as a preschool teacher in several Church preschools. She loves guiding children as they grow emotionally, physically, socially, & spiritually. Her favorite Bible verse to share is Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Miss Dawn has been teaching at Messiah for over 25 years. She teaches the 3’s class. She brings experience as a mom, grandma, childcare provider & Tutor Time teacher. She enjoys watching the children grow and become more independent. Her favorite Bible verse to teach is Psalm 127:3 – “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a gift from Him.”
Miss Joyce teaches in the 2’s class. She loves the wonder and amazement she sees in the children’s eyes when they learn something new. It warms her heart to see them caring for their friends. The Bible verse she likes to instill is Romans 12:12 – “Do not be conformed to this world, but transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good & acceptable & perfect.”
Miss Leah teaches in the 2’s class after being a substitute teacher for a year. She enjoys the sense of community in the Messiah staff and their faith in God. She wants the children to know that God loves them and her favorite verse to teach is 1 John 4:19 – “We love because He first loved us.”
Miss Nancy has been teaching at Messiah for over 5 years. She teaches the 3’s class. She has a degree in criminal justice & sociology. She spent 12 years working in human service/social work focused on children & families. She loves that every day is an adventure as the children grow physically, emotionally, and socially. The birth of Jesus is her favorite lesson from the Bible to teach.
Miss Stephanie has been teaching at Messiah for over 10 years. She teaches the 4’s class. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development with concentration in early childhood. She loves the children’s little personalities and watching them learn new things! Her favorite Bible lesson to teach is Jonah and the Whale.
