Belief and Practice

General Information

We believe in the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three persons in one Divine Being (Matthew 28:19)

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God; the only source and authority for Christian doctrine and daily living. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

We believe that all people are sinners and cannot be saved by their own merits, but only through faith in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

We believe that by faith we may live meaningful, useful lives in our homes, jobs, communities and congregations. (1 Thessalonians 4:1-12)

We believe that we are to grow in Faith and Christian Love through the study of God’s Word and the use of His Sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. (2 Thessalonians 1:3)

With the universal Christian Church, The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God’s Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.
