Congregation Updates

June 29, 2023: Messiah K-2 School Update

The Education Team made a valiant attempt to get the school started this Fall 2023, however we needed 10 students and did not meet this number. There are many reasons why this was not well received, ranging from the late marketing effort in March, when most schools started in September, to a temporary facility while construction begins. At this point, we plan to start the K-8 or K-12 depending on demand in Fall 2025 for the 2025-6 school year. At that point, we will have had sufficient time for marketing across social media and websites plus the curiosity of the public around the new building. The Education Team will plan the marketing at our next meeting in late October 2023. If you have questions or ideas, please contact Greg Hahn at chairman@messiah-nc.org.

March 26, 2023: Proposal to Start Messiah Christian Academy is approved.

If you have questions or ideas to share, please visit the table in the narthex after services on April 2 and April 9, 2023, or contact Greg Hahn at 704-941-1116 or email at chairman@messiah-nc.org.

September 25, 2022: Messiah Christian Academy—Phase 2 Is Approved

On September 25, Messiah Congregation voted to fund Phase 2 of our micro school project. We will again hire Soaring Educational Services, a division of Open Sky Education – an LCMS RSO, to help our Education Team develop an operational plan using the model developed in Phase 1.

The Phase 2 Operational Plan will create all the detailed components necessary for opening a functional micro school, such as the following:

Determination of school operational components:
• Determine key processes for engaging the community
• Site/facility analysis
• Create education model
• Secure technology and furniture, fixtures, and equipment
• Create school culture model
• Create school operations manual
• Create enrollment strategy
• Determine contracted services and providers
• Establish governance, management, and personnel models
• Establish school budget and assumptions

Build:
• Training on school build elements and processes
• Community and partner engagement plan
• Facility assumptions
• School budget
• Education model
• Technology assumptions
• Classroom design description
• School culture plan
• School operations manual
• Governance, management, and personnel framework
• Year 1 budget
• Enrollment plan
• Contracted services and providers recommendations
• Project management resources
• Recommended dates and deliverables

Once Phase 2 is completed, all the components Messiah needs to start the school will be delineated. Messiah Congregation will determine at a future Voters Assembly Meeting when to open the school once Phase 2 is complete.

The Phase 1 model and video can be viewed on our YouTube Channel at https://youtu.be/nVx-c38CmIE.

A new Christian school in South Charlotte focusing on self-paced, independent learning of Christian beliefs, traditional academics and life skills to build lifelong Christians in an increasingly non-Christian world.

Life Skills
Messiah school teaches each student to utilize their individual, God-given gifts in gaining knowledge, growing their faith, and seeking opportunities that will last a lifetime.

Affordable Quality
Messiah school mission is simple and focused on one thing: providing students with the best education and promoting Christian values at an affordable price.
