Ash Wednesday (March 5) – Set aside time for pause and reflection as we begin this journey of Lent to prepare our hearts and minds in anticipation of Easter
12:30pm and 6:30pm Worship Services
(There will be no Wednesday night classes this week, but we invite you to join us for a meal at “The Gathering” starting at 5:15pm)
Wednesday Afternoons During Lent (March 12, 19, 26; April 2, 9) – Mid-Week Service
12:30pm Service – Topic: More
The season of Lent has traditionally been a time of giving up something as an act of penance to express sorrow and repentance for our sin. As we prepare for Holy Week and Easter, our Midweek Sermon Series entitled MORE will examine those things we need to give up. But we will also proclaim the abundant gifts and blessings we have been given as followers of our victorious King Jesus.
Wednesday Evenings During Lent (March 12, 19, 26; April 2, 9) – Mid-Week Meal, Services, and Bible Study
5:15pm Meal (“The Gathering”)
6:30pm Service – Topic: More (see description above)
7:00-7:45pm Bible Study (offered for adults, and kindergarten – high school youth)
The adult Bible Study topic is The Book of Zephaniah — Idolatry was rife amongst God’s people and the nations around them, and it’s into this context that the prophet Zephaniah brings two clear messages: judgment and restoration. Dave Cornes explores what it looks like for us, too, to repent and return to God, trusting Him to protect us through persecution and to purify us through right judgment. Join us as Dave Remer facilitates this five-part, video led series from RightNow Media.
Sunday Mornings During Lent
8:15am and 10:45am Services (nursery for ages 6 weeks – 3 years is provided for 10:45am service)
9:45am Sunday School Hour (offered for adults, and nursery – high school youth)
The adult Sunday School topic is Lessons from the Upper Room — In John’s Gospel account, chapters 13-17 give us an intimate portrait of our Savior in the last moments He shares with His disciples. So many of the great passages of comfort for the Christian life come from these 155 verses as Jesus cares for the Twelve, knowing what will soon take place. Join us as Pastor Roger leads this study, which is based, in part, on the book by Sinclair Ferguson.
Sundays, March 9 and April 6 – Special Youth-Led Lenten Worship Service
The 10:45 worship service will be led by Messiah’s youth. Come and see how our youth serve the Body of Christ at Messiah (nursery for ages 6 weeks – 3 years is provided for this service). Sunday School is at 9:45am with classes for adults, and kindergarten – high school youth.
